Steven Avery’s garage is a red and blue garage to the south-east of Steven’s trailer. Though it's often referred to as "Steven's garage", the garage and many of its contents were actually owned by Roland Johnson. Steven and his Jodi girlfriend rented the property from Roland at the time.

In the 1970's Roland Johnson, owner of a red trailer, put his trailer on a northwestern piece of land part of the Avery’s Auto Salvage property. Some years later he bought that piece of land from Allan Avery, father of Steven. Together with Allan, Johnson build the garage to the south-east of the trailer. In 2004 Jodi Stachowski started living in the trailer.[1][2] In June 2004 Steven Avery moved in with her.[3] At some point Avery painted part of the garage red. Before this the entire garage was blue.
