Several jugs of paint thinner were recovered from Steven Avery’s garage on March 1 and 2, 2006, during another search of the area that had been requested following Brendan Dassey’s confession. According to Dassey three reagents or chemicals, gasoline, paint thinner and bleach were used in succession to remove a “red fluid” stain from the garage floor.

Following Brendan Dassey’s confession investigators returned to the Avery property for what would turn out to be a 2-day search of Steven Avery's garage. On the first day of the search a jug of paint thinner of the Klean Strip brand was found.
On 2 March two more jugs were found: another Klean Strip jug, and a Reseal brand jug.
